Tent City... under the bridge

These pictures are from a place called Tent City which is under a bridge in a mid-size southern city. The folks you see here will be moving on soon... some because they want to, and some because they have to. The city fathers, with the support of some of the local ministries, are restricting this area, but are offering help to the residents to find housing and/or new locations. As we find out more, we'll be posting. Stay tuned to see if this "well meaning" effort is successful and has no unintended consequences.

To Tent City we went today to pass out baby wipes and soaps in baggies, toothbrushes with covers, toothpaste, deodorant, baby powder, lotion, cat food & Witness bracelets!
Lisa who Brandon & Tim met the other day was so happy to get cat food for the cats she takes care of! We met a guy who just this past week became homeless for the first time in 40+ years! He cried when he was given the Witness bracelets we gave out and said that they gave him hope! It was nice to let him and the others know that people really DO care about them! He's the guy wearing a black shirt showing off his new Witness bracelet! I got wished Happy Mother's Day a good half a dozen time! We met a lady named "V" who if you didn't meet her there you would never guess she was homeless! We need to find a pair of size 13W work boots for a big and tall guy who has worn his down to the point that they need duck tape to work! Yes he has a job and YES he needs GOOD shoes for work! He got there because his last landlord didn't do what he was supposed to do to keep up with the Section 8 house he was in, leaving him on the streets! We met a lady named "D" that is having problems with her kidneys and promised her we'd bring her some Apple Cider Vinegar next time we came! The guys and gals of course requested socks! Than there was the young lady with the little 4 week old puppy that needs puppy food! We seen a port a potty made out of wood, cleaned out pots for cooking, 3 huge plastic containers that hold water that is brought into them once a month and of course many tents and a lot of people! One request they have is because the "City" is split it two is to have someone come in with a truck to help them get rid of the trash that is piled up! Yes believe it or not they DO care that they have trash piled up! We found the words, "God is Great, Deal with it!" along with some scripture on the side of a tent! Wow sounds positive doesn't it? And to think ALL day long you thought you had it so bad? REALLY!?!?!?!! Making you think? GOOD!
Well we promised them we'd come back!
But you know what?
We NEED YOUR HELP to do so!
Is there any way that you can help us help spread the love of Jesus?
Please let us know, finances are SHORT, so short! But we know God's up to something, He has to be there are too many people there that need help and this is ONLY one place!
Thanks for reading this post and please keep us in your prayers!
We need you but more importantly these people need to be shown that God really DOES indeed love them and wants to meet them wherever they are even if it's in a tent with duct tape shoes! BTW that same big and tall guy, yeah he cried and wanted us to pray with him!
Do you think for one moment these missions are worth it?
THEY ARE!
Help us if you can!
God bless!
