Who are you Serving?  By Cayman at The Holy Land

They call it The Holy Land Experience, I call it a Beary Pawesome Experience!  Same difference I guess but bear oh bear was I ever beary blessed when we got to go for FREE!  What a treat it was as being we’ve had some hardships most recently to still get to go someplace that our hearts desired.

I can’t begin to tell you how pawesome I thought The Holy Land was!  From the moment we got there and got in line to get our tickets we met some of the most wonderful people!  You know that’s what happens when God’s people hang out.  We meet people we don’t know but suddenly it’s like reconnecting with family.  Take the guy we met that is from Ohio.  He’s a chaplain at the prison and when Brandon and him started talking it was like they already knew it each other.  What was really great was after Brandon shared his story with him, the gentleman wanted his picture taken with him so he could share the picture along with Brandon’s testimony to the guys in the prison.  He figured his story would give the other guys in the prison hope in Jesus.  We shared a few witness bracelets with him and his family too!

Now the shows there were amazing!  Legna was all about a guy who meets an “angel” that helps remind him about his “lost” relationship with God.  Even though the man had some rough times with the loss of his mom, the “angel” reminds him that Jesus is always with us.  Talk about entertaining angels you never know who you are going to meet on the street when you serve!  This homeless man was indeed an angel in disguise!

The Passion show was beary pawesome and there is nothing in this world that compares to seeing the Lord who died for us being so realistically crucified on the cross.  Satan was indeed his pure evil self the whole time.  At the end however there was of course victory in Jesus.  That ole devil really needs to read the Bible, doesn’t He realize that God will always triumph over him?  The day warmed our hearts and moved us in ways that we will probably never be able to explain.  It reminded us however to be so beary thankful for the sacrifice He made for us.  Indeed Jesus didn’t need to give up His life to save us, but He did.  What have you done for Him who loves you so much lately?

I will not forget hearing either the Sermon on the Mount or having the fishes passed out to us.  Communion with Jesus is something people should experience on an everyday basis but having communion at the Holy Land was a beary special event.  The Scriptorium was also a beary amazing sight!  To behold such precious Bibles and scrolls and artifacts is something I will never forget!

We met a bunch of other people along the way to talk to about our mission and gave out over 20 witness bracelets.  We even got to see Dr. Bill again as he explained the World’s smallest replica of Jerusalem.

Oh and who could possibly forget Gabe?  The guy we met in one of the gift shops!  He was beary pawesome!  In face he already knew about me and knew about my symbols! He'd even talked to the BBB!  Big Bear Boss!

Oh and watch out for those TBN guys, they were continually trying to get me on video!

Buddy and I also enjoyed having lunch by the fountains that sing twice a day and from where we were sitting we could see the Ten Commandments up on a small hill.  I was disappointed that I didn’t see any bears there but of course Buddy was happy that we found some turtles.

I think one of the most important highlights however was the little chapel we found away from everything.  We sat down in there for a while just talking to Jesus.  We kept thinking on how life and the people outside were busy doing the hustle and bustle to see this and to do that and here we were just sitting.  We realized that it is more important to sit at His feet and talk to Him then rushing around doing this and that or try to impress Him or other people.  I hear there’s a story about Mary and Martha that concerns the same thing.  You can find it in the Bible in Luke 10:38-42, but it says in the NIV “38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Yes indeed it is sweeter to sit at His feet and listen than what it is to be distracted by trying to make an impression for those to feast their eyes on!  What’s more important to you I have to ask, doing what He commands of you or doing what you think may be pleasing to others?  If you are putting man before God ask yourself why do you love these other idols more than Him who gave eternal life to you!

Needless to say I highly recommend The Holy Land Experience for all my bear brothers and sisters but what I even more highly recommend is a relationship in constant communion with Him!  Put Him first today and everyday here after!

In His service with Bear love,

Cayman
